The Parry Sound area has grown fond of Dave Burrows because of
his ongoing commitment and support for young people here. After
an outstanding career in the NHL, he has found a home for
himself in the community.
Growing up in Toronto, Dave admired
the great skills of Tim Horton. His strong defensive abilities
were developed through junior and minor pro hockey until he was
picked up by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1971. There he was
partnered with Horton, and throughout most of the 1970's Dave
earned a reputation as one of the NHL’s best-ever defensive defencemen. He was a three-time league all-star, and is a member
of the Pittsburgh Penguins Hall of Fame.
