1970 Stanley Cup Ring

On May 10th, 1970 Bobby Orr led the Boston Bruins to their first Stanley Cup win since 1941. The game winning goal undeniably remains today as one of the most famous wins in NHL history. Forty seconds into the 4th period of the 4th playoff game against the St. Louis Blues, Bobby Orr gets a pass from teammate Derek Sanderson, puts the puck in the net and trips over St. Louis’ player Noel Picard – frozen eternally in one of the most famous sports photographs in history!

The same ring also flew in space during Canadian Astronaut Dr. Robert Thirsk’s space shuttle Columbia mission in 1997 – a request he presented to Bobby Orr, and to which was openhandedly obliged.
The Stanley Cup ring for such a celebrated victory proudly sits on display today in the Trophy Zone at the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame. You can view this ring, along with other memorabilia on display at the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame.
