1970 Stanley Cup

On June 15, 2011, after a 39 year drought, the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup.  Previously, the Bruins waited 29 years before seeing Bobby Orr score the game winning goal and capturing the 1970 Stanley Cup.

May 10, 1970 marked a historic day for the Boston Bruins.  22 year old Bobby Orr led the Bruins to a Stanley Cup victory after a 29 year drought.  It was the 4th playoff game vs the St-Louis Blues when number four Bobby Orr, took a pass from Derek Sanderson, and scored the game winning goal 40 seconds into the 1st overtime period.  As he scored, he was pitched forward by St-Louis Blues defenceman, Noel Picard.  This famous moment was immortalized by Ray Lussier's photograph, The Goal.

The 1970 Stanley Cup is showcased in the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame and can be seen in this photograph.
